Lockdown Update

Letter to parents from Principal Ho (document also available for download in the section below):

March 8, 2013

Dear Parents,

Yesterday, the front office staff received harassing phone calls stating that a staff member at La' ie

Elementary School needed to provide them information. The staff member does not know of this

person's identity or the reason for the request for this information. HPD was immediately notified,

and they came to our front office to make a report.

Today at 10:00 a.m. the office began receiving the harassing phone calls once again. HPD was

notified and reported to the front office once again. At 12:00 p.m., the phone calls started to include

a threat of bodily harm to the staff member, and not towards any students.

For the safety of all our students, and faculty and staff, and with the advisement by the District

Office, La' ie Elementary initiated a lockdown. During the lockdown, every student was accounted

for everyone was kept safe inside locked classrooms.

HPD was on campus from 12:20 p.m. until the end of the school day, and they assisted students in

exiting the campus. HPD also checked on the phone number of the harassing phone calls, and

concluded that this was a "scam." District Office has also provided us with a security guard, and he

will be on campus until 6:00 p.m. this evening, as well as all day on Monday, March 11.

Your child's(ren's) safety is our priority.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Thank you for your cooperation and

understanding.

Sincerely,

Matthew C. W. Ho

Principal
